History of Amalfi Paper
Since 1200 paper mills have existed in Amalfi.
The Arabs were the first to propagate the techniques for the production of paper which, needing a particular type of water common to the area, easily found an ideal slot in the business activities of Amalfi.
In 1220, Frederick II made an epoch making decision by imposing the use of paper for all public acts.
With the introduction of glue and animal gelatine, the production improved and paper gradually took the place of animal based parchment.
Since that time, the art of producing paper by the Italian "paper masters" has spread all over the world.
Amalfi paper gives us back some of that preciousness coming from things made by man, just like the people coming from this place, generous and hospitable.
Amalfi paper is a new idea for an ancient article to bring back the emotion of communication. Presented in splendid, exclusive wooden boxes, can be personalized with a watermark making it unique of its kind in the world.
The paper proposed is produced from 100% cotton with a formula dating back to 1730, still keeping in tact the elegance and harmony of times gone by.
